George Owens Nature Park has given families the opportunity to reconnect with their natural environment since 1977. The park is open year round and provides 86 acres of beautiful forest, lakes, hiking trails and wildlife. Explore the rustic nature center and find new seasonal exhibits. Get up close to a snake, touch antlers, or count the rings on a tree. Experience the beauty of a 150 gallon turtle enclosure or peer into a 75 gallon fresh water aquarium display. The possibilities for adventure are endless.

Nature Story Time

Play outside this summer at George Owens Nature Park - make mud pies, catch frogs, bugs and butterflies. We read, explore outside and make crafts. Offered with support of the Kansas City Public Library. Call (816) 325-7115 for more information.

12th Annual Winter Solstice Torch Lit Hike

Wednesday, December 16

5:00 - 6:30 p.m.

Free Family program.

Celebrate the start of Winter with this fun annual event!  It's sure to be a seasonal favorite.

Walk a torch lit trail while learning about owls and hawks, how animals prepare for winter, view the night sky (weather permitting) and other outdoor activities, while keeping warm with a cup of hot chocolate.  Bring your camera along and get a picture in the life size ice sleigh!

Please dress for the weather, this is an outdoor activity.

Winter crafts will be offered by Oddball Kids and the first 150 participants receive a free travel mug to take home!
