The Child I.D. Program is coordinated through the police department's Volunteer In Police Service (VIPS) unit. Through the Child Identification program, vital information is collected on children ages twelve and under. Information such as physical description (height, weight, hair & eye color, etc.) along with a still photo are collected. This information is then stored in a database at the police department. Should a need arise in the future, this information can be accessed and made available as necessary. The child is fingerprinted at this time. The fingerprint card is given to the parent for safe keeping.
