Shooting Investigation at Burger King Parking Lot

For immediate release: August 14, 2017

On 08/14/2017 at 9:37 A.M., Independence Police officers were dispatched to a shooting in the parking lot of Burger King at 16901 E. US 24 Hwy, just north of Hawthorne Place Apartments.

Upon their arrival, they located an adult male with a gunshot wound. He claimed subjects in a red Chevrolet shot him at that location.

Shortly thereafter, one of the officers who was conducting an area check, located a vehicle matching the description given by the person who was shot. The vehicle was in the backyard of a duplex in the 400 block of N. Kendall Drive. Numerous other subjects were located, including a second person with gunshot injuries. Both injured persons were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
