Missing Person: Police Search for Missing Woman

For immediate release: August 31, 2017

The Independence Police Department is requesting assistance from the community with an active missing person’s investigation. Janelle M. Johnson, White Female, D.O.B. 05/10/69, was last seen by a case worker on 04/03/17. The case worker dropped Mrs. Johnson off in the 5800 Block of Forest, Kansas City, MO.

Mrs. Johnson is homeless and she suffers from liver complications. It is believed that Mrs. Johnson does not have her medication.

On 05/17/17, an unknown person named “Bernadette” contacted a case worker and mentioned she had some of Mrs. Johnson’s property. Bernadette did not leave her contact information.

Foul play is not suspected at this time. This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Janelle M. Johnson or “Bernadette” is asked to call the TIPS Hotline (816) 474-TIPS or IPD tips (816) 325-7777 or email leads@indepmo.org
