Reliability Compliance Coordinator

Salary: $4,354-$8,454 per month

Under limited supervision, will review and update Engineering/Operations policies/procedures to conform to NERC Standards and incorporate the production and retention of evidence needed to show compliance with NERC Reliability Standards. Will review NERC compliance evidence, determine adequacy, suggest revisions and work with SMEs to provide evidence of compliance. Will work in a small team environment, assisting staff and IPL NERC Teams with the development of communications to management on NERC compliance initiatives and implications of those activities. On select 693 NERC Reliability Standards, will perform duties of Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide evidence of compliance. Duties include the development of training materials, and ability to provide training to personnel on operation procedures and NERC compliance requirements. Participate in SPP and NERC seminars to maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance requirements. Responsibilities include working with staff and SMEs to interpret violations noted in audits and the ability to develop acceptable plans of action necessary for mitigation. Will identify methods to foster an environment of continuous improvement to operations and reliability. Performs other duties as assigned.         

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university in electrical engineering, or related field. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible related experience in electric utility engineering, planning operations or field experience or, any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Working experience in NERC Reliability Standards compliance and electric systems operations highly desired.  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards, particularly TO, TOP, COM, EOP, MOD, FAC, PRC, PER, TPL, and VAR Standards. Requires basic understanding of engineering, maintenance, operation and planning of electric power systems, electrical system operations and their effect on reliabililty. Must have knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Requires working knowledge of related software and database management systems. Must be skilled in research methods, with ability to analyze a variety of informational and statistical data. Requires strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines with a minimum of direction; skill in communicating clearly and effectively, orally and in writing. Requires ability to make operational decisions quickly and which are based on engineering fundamentals and operating policies during periods of high activity. Typical Working Conditions: Working conditions are typically moderately quiet office environment but outdoor work may be required at a moment’s notice in all types of weather.  Must be able to work extended hours as necessary to provide operational effectiveness.
