Thank you to Isabella, the winner of our 2011 Fire Prevention "Month" Poster Contest.
The theme for Fire Prevention Week last year was "Protect Your Family From Fire." So, Isabella drew a home fire escape plan to show how she and her family would escape their house if a fire had started. Well done girl!!
This year's theme for Fire Prevention Week (October 6 - 12) is "Prevent Kitchen Fires"
The Independence Fire Department will be spreading the word that more fires start in the kitchen than any other part of the home and educate on preventing cooking fires in the kitchen.
We tend to turn Fire Prevention Week into Fire Prevention Month because there is always so much to do.
