Getting Ready
2:00 pm Regular museum admission rates.  Guided tour.  During the month of April thousands of pioneers began arriving in Independence to get ready for their departure on the trails.  During this guided tour you will learn about their experiences in town and come to understand what was needed for the overland journey.

Full Moon Hike
Explore a new aspect of Spring with these free hikes during a full moon. Reserve your place by 5 p.m. on the Thursday before the hike by calling 816-325-7115. Each hike is limited to 12 participants. Part of the hike will go off the paved trail, so wear appropriate shoes. No baby strollers or light-up shoes, please.  Hike starts at 7 p.m. on March 6; at 8 p.m. on April 3 and May 1.

Jumping Off
1:00 - 3:00 pm  Regular museum admission rates.  Come to the museum to prepare for your epic six month journey to Oregon!  Using a special trail guide provided as you begin, you will learn about what route you will take, investigate art to discover something about the "jumping off towns," identify items in the General Store and finally pack a wagon with a Museum Educator as your guide!  This is a wonderful way for families to discover a part of the history of westward expansion.  Great Family event.

Neighborhood Clean-up
A neighborhood clean-up will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 4. Neighborhood boundaries are from the south side of W. Sheley Rd., the north side of E. 30th Terr. S. & E. 31st. S., the west side of S. Crysler Ave., and the east side of Norton Ave., S. Forest Ave., & W. Scott Pl. in Council District 4.
