Japanese Sister City Commission
The Japanese Sister City Commission meets on the third Tuesday of each month in Conference Room D from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. unless posted differently.

Getting Ready
2:00 pm Regular museum admission rates.  Guided tour.  During the month of April thousands of pioneers began arriving in Independence to get ready for their departure on the trails.  During this guided tour you will learn about their experiences in town and come to understand what was needed for the overland journey.

Jumping Off
1:00 - 3:00 pm  Regular museum admission rates.  Come to the museum to prepare for your epic six month journey to Oregon!  Using a special trail guide provided as you begin, you will learn about what route you will take, investigate art to discover something about the "jumping off towns," identify items in the General Store and finally pack a wagon with a Museum Educator as your guide!  This is a wonderful way for families to discover a part of the history of westward expansion.  Great Family event.

Special 25th Anniversary Event: Night at the Museum 3
6:30 pm $25 for adults, $5 for;children ages 6-17. In honor of the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the museum, the Friends of the NFTM invite you to tour the museum and meet a variety of historical persons as they share their frontier adventures. Enjoy an appetizer buffet and period music as you stroll through the exhibit galleries. There will also be a raffle with lots of prizes!All proceeds dedicated to museum displays and programming.

Cherry Blossom Festival
