The Greater Kansas City Metro Area Continuum of Care 2011 One Year Action Plan
May 12, 2011
In an effort to best meet the needs of its homeless population, the City of Independence participates in the Greater Kansas City Continuum of Care which encompasses all of Jackson County and portions of adjacent counties. The needs of homeless persons and homeless families with children in the greater Kansas City community are identified through an annual point-in-time count. The count includes collection of information about the homeless population which helps to describe the nature and extent of homelessness in the community. This data, coupled with waiting list information for programs serving the homeless is used to assess the needs for different types of facilities and services and then strategically allocate available funding resources.
The Greater Kansas City Metro Area Continuum of Care 2014 Activities Summary describes the Continuum's strategy for the allocation of funding resources in an effort to best meet the needs of the homeless in the coming year.
