COVID-19 Testing in the City of Independence

The City of Independence is committed to supporting the local, regional and state efforts to provide adequate testing in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Please find information below on local and regional COVID-19 testing options.

Providing local tests

The City of Independence, in collaboration with the Mid-America Regional Council, provided free, saliva-based testing in January, February and March of 2021.

This was the second round of testing in Independence. Previously, the City requested nearly $1 million in CARES Act funding to increase testing across Independence. Over an eight week period, the City provided nearly 8,000 free, saliva-based COVID-19 tests to the region.
