COVID-19 Testing in the City of Independence

The City of Independence is committed to supporting the local, regional and state efforts to provide adequate testing in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.Please find information below on local and regional COVID-19 testing options.

New testing available locally in January

The City of Independence, in collaboration with the Mid-America Regional Council, will provide free, saliva-based testing from 11AM-2PM at the Independence Athletic Complex, 17800 E Salisbury Rd., each Saturday, beginning Jan. 9 through Jan. 30. Registration is required for this event and individuals must be 18 years or older to participate. You can find the registration information below.

Please note, individuals are asked to not eat, drink, use tobacco products, or brush their teeth for 30 minutes prior to their appointment. Testing takes between 10 and 20 minutes to complete. 

Dates of testing in January 2021:

  • Saturday, Jan. 9
  • Saturday, Jan. 16
  • Saturday, Jan. 23 (registration opens Jan. 21)
  • Saturday, Jan. 30 (registration opens Jan. 28)

This is the second round of testing in Independence. Previously, the City requested nearly $1 million in CARES Act funding to increase testing across Independence. Over an eight week period, the City provided nearly 8,000 free, saliva-based COVID-19 tests to the region.
